Hank Bull Collection, a New Addition to the Western Front Archives

Western Front is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Hank Bull collection. The Hank Bull collection is distinct as the second major acquisition by the Western Front, following the Kate Craig fonds. The collection is now available for researchers to further understand the history of the Western Front and Bull’s engagement with local and international networks.

In 2020, Hank Bull generously donated this material to the Western Front, containing original and collected artworks, early video-phone telecommunication equipment and technology, performance costumes, photographs, videos, and textual and graphic records relating to the history of the Western Front, Infermental, the Vancouver Artists’ League, Art’s Birthday, and the Jiangnan project (1998).

We would like to thank Andy Resto, Master of Archival Studies candidate at the iSchool at the University of British Columbia, for his work in researching, arranging and describing these materials.

To view the finding aid and materials available, please view the Hank Bull collection page.

For more information or to access the collection, please contact archivist@front.bc.ca.

With the generous support of the BC History Digitization Program at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, University of British Columbia, we were able to digitize many of the materials in the collection.
