TALKING PICTURES
February 15
Hear It NOW is an annual festival of new and improvised music produced by the New Orchestra Workshop. The festival kicks off with a reception and concert set by TALKING PICTURES: Ron Samworth – guitar, Peggy Lee – cello, Bill Clark – trumpet, and Dylan Van Der Schyff – drums.
Members of the thirteen piece NOW orchestra will conduct workshops and performances over this week-long residency with guest artists René Lussier and Pierre Tanguay. These Québec jazz artists will develop a new piece to be premiered on February 17 at the Glass Slipper. It will be recorded for a CD release on Les Disques Victo. This is the second Hear It NOW co-production between NOW and the Western Front. Last year’s Western Front residency with British bassist/composer Barry Guy resulted in Witch Gong Game 11/10, released internationally on Maya Records.
Performing in the NOW orchestra residency will be Ron Samworth, Coat Cooke, Kate Hammet-Vaughan, Paul Plimley, Peggy Lee, Dylan Van Der Schyff, Clyde Reed, Paul Blaney, Saul Berson, John Korsrud, Graham Ord, Bruce Freedman and Ralph Eppel.
