The following text is taken from Front Magazine, vol. VI, no. 2, p. 14, November/December 1994:

Western Front Mini-Residencies is a program which gives three younger artists the chance to work on smaller projects with limited access to the facilities. The tapes will be produced over the winter season and will be screened together in March. The first two will be Shawn Chappelle and Lexi Montgomery.

A mother deters her daughter from the kitchen to avoid stereotypical roles from being placed on her, however this sparks intrigue in her daughter for a “forbidden space” thereby leaving her undeniably ensconced with wearing aprons and collecting kitchen utensils.

Lexi Montgomery will produce a ten to fifteen minute videotape entitled “Sweet and Low” based on a performance of the same name, which explores the conflict of being brought up with feminist values yet being drawn to a contrary lifestyle.
