A special production. Done in tandem with Stewart’s performance work, Pilgrim-Exile, as part of his 1989 residency at the Western Front.
“This video tape is my first work in this medium. I decided that I would not create the work within the framework of a rigid concept but would go out into Vancouver over a period of a week or so and, look for ‘reflections’ of my work within the ‘blizzard’ of images, sounds, words and architecture that make up the heart of a large city, such as Vancouver. I selected material that ‘poetically’ related to my interests – the denial of a metaphysical reality, the reduction of nature to a commodity, the dysfunctional quality of our inner lives.” - Nicholas Stewart
This tape was not completed until 1992.
