The Kate Craig fonds

The Kate Craig fonds

Together with seven other artists, Canadian artist Kate Craig (1947-2002), founded the Western Front Society in 1973. Four years later she initiated the Front’s artist-in-residence program which is now the Media Arts Program. The Kate Craig fonds contains original costumes, embroidery, photographs, ephemera, press releases/clippings, sketchbooks, drawings, artworks, video and audio recordings related to the life, research and career of Kate Craig.

The Kate Craig fonds is distinct and maintained separately from the Kate Craig works contained in the Western Front Archive. The records in the Kate Craig fonds were created, used and accumulated by Kate Craig and were left in the custody of Hank Bull following her death. They were donated to Western Front in the Spring of 2016 so that they may be made available to researchers.

For a complete list of the contents of the Kate Craig fonds please see the finding aid.

For more information or to access the fonds please contact Western Front’s archivist at archivist@front.bc.ca
